Week 9: Public Holiday, Maulidur Rasul & Assessment 1

 24 - 28 August 2026

During Week 9, the teaching and learning schedule was slightly affected by several public holidays, including the official birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka and the Maulidur Rasul public holiday. Despite the reduced instructional time, academic activities continued as planned, with a particular focus on the implementation of Assessment 1 for the courses under my responsibility.

As an educator, I utilised the available teaching sessions to ensure that students were adequately prepared for the assessment. Revision activities, guided discussions, and formative exercises were conducted to reinforce key concepts that had been covered in previous weeks. These activities provided students with an opportunity to clarify areas of uncertainty and strengthen their understanding before undertaking the assessment.

The administration of Assessment 1 allowed me to evaluate students' levels of understanding, knowledge retention, and ability to apply the concepts learned throughout the semester. It also served as an important indicator of the effectiveness of the teaching strategies employed during the early weeks of the academic session. Overall, students demonstrated satisfactory participation and commitment towards completing the assessment requirements.

Although the shortened week presented some challenges in terms of lesson planning and time allocation, it encouraged me to be more strategic in organising learning activities and assessment schedules. The experience highlighted the importance of flexibility and effective time management when balancing curriculum delivery with institutional and national commitments.

Overall, Week 9 was a productive period that combined academic assessment with the observance of significant public holidays. The experience enabled me to monitor students' academic progress while continuing to refine my planning and classroom management skills as an educator.
