During Week 8, the teaching and learning process was carried out through an outdoor learning approach. This activity was carefully designed to provide students with a more meaningful learning experience while enabling them to connect the theories learned in the classroom with real-life situations. As an educator, I had the opportunity to facilitate learning activities that encouraged active student participation and further developed their communication, observation, and critical thinking skills.
Throughout the implementation of these activities, the students demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm and engagement. The more relaxed and interactive learning environment allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter compared to conventional classroom-based instruction. Furthermore, the group activities conducted during the session fostered teamwork and collaboration, while also encouraging students to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
Nevertheless, the successful implementation of outdoor learning required careful planning and preparation, particularly in terms of time management, student safety, and the provision of suitable learning materials. One of the main challenges I encountered was ensuring that the intended learning outcomes were achieved within a more dynamic and less controlled environment than that of a traditional classroom setting.
Overall, facilitating outdoor learning activities provided me with valuable professional exposure and practical teaching experience. This approach not only enhanced the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process but also broadened my understanding of the diverse pedagogical strategies that can be employed to accommodate different student needs and learning styles. The experience has strengthened my confidence in designing and implementing more creative, student-centred learning activities in the future.
